Yeah, sometimes decisions are hard to make, then other times they are so easy. This is one of the easy times!
I was looking at Plus bikes this afternoon when I came across the Motobecane 29Plus X5.
Business is starting to pick up at the bike shop, so I hope that in the next couple months I'll have one of these arriving at my door! Shortly after that, it will get a 2000W Cyclone motor!
This bike comes with Aluminum frame, Hydraulic brakes, and 3x29" Plus bike sized tires, and 4" tires can be fitted.
The bike also comes in regular Orange and purple. I'm thinking I'll get the burnt Orange middle photo.
A 2Kw or 3Kw Cyclone motor on this bike will be a blast to ride! 35 to 40mph with the Plus sized tires will be smooth and easy. Not to mention the additional safety that 35-40mph provides in traffic! You're much less likely to get rear ended at those speeds, and the Hydraulic disk brakes have plenty of stopping power for when some idiots pulls out in front of you without looking. Add a three way switch for three levels of speed, then you can ride it on the beach bike path without getting harassed for speeding every time you pas a cop, or haul ass whenever conditions permit.
I started putting a 2000W cyclone motor on a Firmstrong 7 speed Bruiser beach cruiser, and a 3000W Cyclone motor on a 7 speed Sixthreezero In The Barrel beach cruiser, but I'm thinking that those two motors would be better off on a bike with the Plus sized tires for extra shock absorption at higher speeds. The beach cruiser balloon tires have a lot more shock absorption than a 700C, but the ride does get a bit bumpy on some of the roads around here at BBSO2 and BBSHD speeds even with the balloon tires.
