Diamondback Anyone?

This is a pretty tough bike right out of the box.

29 Diamondback

Aside from installing any motor on any bike you like, I've decided to use the Motobecane for Plus size and fat tire bikes. I've looked at thousands of bikes from all the different manufacturers and have decided on the Diamondback brand for a normal mountain/trail bike that I'll have available for test rides.

The Diamondback will be available with mid drive motors from Bafang 750W on up to 3000W Cyclone motors. Starting price of only $1350 with the 750W Bafang motor!

27.5 Diamondback

The basic model comes with a Suntour suspension front end/forks. These can be upgraded to Rock Shock if you plan on taking it off road a lot, but when used as a commuter, the Suntour is fine for handling bumps and the occasional pothole.

The basic model is reasonably priced, and higher end models are offered. However, when it comes to the more expensive models, most of what you are paying for is more expensive components. Those expensive components may let you shift 1/1000 of a second faster, but unless you're a professional bike racer, I don't see the additional cost being advantageous. When converting a bike into electric, those more expensive components may even be a disadvantage due to their lighter weight. Ebikes are known for going threw drive line components, and the larger the motor, the faster you will go threw those parts. The less expensive components while weighing slightly more, tend to be a bit more forgiving. It's not that the cheaper parts are purposely build stronger, it's that they have not been purposely build lighter that is the advantage. Not to mention that they are less expensive to replace when they do wear out, and they will wear out because you'll be having so much fun riding the bike, you'll be riding a lot more!
